McIntosh is passionate about preserving our forests, glaciers, lakes and waterways. To that end she has painted rivers, lakes, waterfalls and tropical and temperate waterfalls, mountains and glaciers from life.
Valuing Community
Angie opens her studio and gallery to visitors and welcomes them to use free art material, has a free children's gallery, a free art resource book library, and started free Penticton and Puerto Vallarta Plein Air (outdoor) Painting groups. She has volunteered to teach painting in schools.
Practicing What She Values
Outcomes that speak for themselves and make a meaningful difference to the planet are important to Angie as she has worked to preserve and restore the land at her rural Okanagan home and utilized permaculture principals to create gardens at her studio.
About Me
Welcome to Chasing Art Studio! I am a passionate international artist dedicated to creating and sharing unique pieces many painted from life around the world or even painted large in the studio. They reflect my love for this planet and the people that inhabit it. Most of my work focuses on oil painting but spans various mediums, allowing me to explore nature and the world around me, creativity and connection with my audience.
About Chasing Art Studio
Experience
I have been working as a professional artist for over 35 years, specializing now mostly in oil painting often in large format in the studio and occasionally from life en plein air. My work has been featured in public and private galleries and solo exhibits highlighting a concern and passion for the environment and its habitat, protection and restoration, and is available in several shops and galleries in Canada and Mexico. I have encouraged other artists to get out and paint en Plein Air paint in Mexico, in the Okanagan in Canada and in northern BC at Stewart where I had a studio for 18 years. Now I am working out of my Chasing Art Studio and Gallery at the crossroads of the beautiful Shuswap/Thompson/Okanagan in the Village of Chase BC and 637 Shuswap Ave Chase BC.
I taught many comprehensive painting Workshops for the Okanagan School of the Arts Penticton and Arte Vallarta in Puerto Vallarta where I started the Penticton Plein Air Painting Group, the Puerto Vallarta Plein Air Painters and led outings painting en Plein Air with other artists in Stewart BC while I had my studio there for around 18 years.

I am a painter, an artist who is filled with much gratitude for the time I spend appreciating nature and life. I also feel the passion of wanting to share the joy of careful observation with a dash of creative enthusiasm and playful recording of this artistic expression through painting with others and by encouraging creative expression in everyone's life whether volunteering in schools and classrooms and starting free plein air painting groups, and encouraging others to form more around the world. Now I am encouraging young people and children to create art with free materials, paints and brushes always available at my Chasing Art Studio and putting their work up on the walls right beside my paintings to inspire and encourage youth to participate in the arts.
WORKSHOPS AND TEACHING
1.For many years I taught Workshops in Penticton for the Okanagan School of the Arts. In the early 2000's I started Ecole des Beaux Arts for Everybody to teach kids in school and for kids for Okanagan School of the Arts.
2.Schools:2001 Carmi Elementary School Penticton BC Friday art class for the year for Mr.Tucker's Gr.3 students in 2001 followed by a continuing education session for the teachers at the school and Plein Air Painting Workshops for grade 6 students in French Immersion Camp from KVR Middle School.

4.Okanagan School of the Arts
My 6 Pillars of Painting Workshops for acrylic and oil painting were taught several times, often 2x per year when they were located at Shatford Centre

I taught my Pillars of Painting for 3 and 4 day format several times between 2015 and 2023 including once at the Arte Vallarta Museo.

Process
I begin each piece with a vision in mind inspired by the beauty of nature and human construction but allow the materials and my instincts trained by the knowledge I gave gleaned over the years about shape, value, colour, edges and design to guide me as I work. I believe that the process of creating art should be just as fulfilling as the finished piece, as I am an instrument of observation distilled with my artistic motivation and determined practice in putting layers of paint to canvas.
Style
My work is influenced by the vibrant colors and textures of nature, the emotions and experiences that we all share, studying it and recording it in nature from life and in studio. I strive to create pieces that are both visually stunning and emotionally impactful using a modern impressionistic realism approach and style.

My studio is meant to be a haven to others. I want my art to bring them happiness and joy and hope that we can spread respect and love for our planet so people will take better care of it and want to restore and protect it and the creatures wild and supposedly civilized that inhabit it. Art Collectors and browsers, seniors, adults and children alike are welcomed to visit and enjoy my art, my space, my studio and gallery to recharge their batteries so they can go out and spread more good in the world.

We believe in creating meaningful experience through connection to the landscape and community for our third season at the Chasing Art Gallery and Studio in Chase BC of artist Angie McIntosh. Let us help bring joy your life through art.
Welcoming Visitors
Chasing Art Gallery and Studio open in Chase BC starting the May Long weekend till winter. We are generally open Thurs-Saturdays 11-4 or by appointment. You are welcome to visit and feel at home. You may bring in your drinks and snacks from local coffee and ice cream shops. This is not your usual snobby big city art gallery.
A Full Range of Paintings
In the gallery you will find a full range of paintings from around the world of almost any scene ...from nature to streets, boats and gondolas to bicycles, rivers to glaciers, flowers to buildings in oils, acrylics and watercolours,large (9ft) to small, original paintings to note and post cards along with a free one of the local waterfall along with instructions on how to get there from the Angie's gallery in a 15 minute walk through gardens, along the river to the Chase Creek waterfall.
Connecting as Neighbours and Fellow Travellers
The other day someone in my studio said visiting my studio and gallery was an amazing experience, so different from going into most galleries. They said they got to learn about my paintings from the source, learned where many were painted on location. They liked learning how I ( not AI) made the piece. They can often find themselves directed to a painting that I have done of somewhere they know and love or somewhere that they will add to their holiday travel or bucket list. Usually I find that we can connect as artist and viewer on a common ground through the beauty and happiness art brings and through the love and comfort that nature and community create as we connect through the paintings, the conversation and friendship that they bring.
